Hollywood Stamp Club

HISTORY AND EVENTS

HISTORY

IN THE BEGINNING
In the mid-1960's several transplanted ( read retirees or snowbirds) came to South Florida and found that their hobby of stamp collecting was not organized here. As such several of them formed the core of the Hollywood Stamp Club

Events

Weekly Auction
Each Tuesday (our normal meeting day) Members of the Hollywood Stamp Club may place into our auction up to 10 lots of stamps and other philatelic material (albums, postcards, souvenir sheets, etc). Only members may place items into the auction, but anyone, including guests may bid for these items. The minimum lot price is currently $3.00.

This auction generates lots of fun and action, and many times the bidding is very competitive. Lots are offered starting at 5PM and the auction typically starts at 7PM.

Go-Go Auction
Several times a year the club holds a special Go-Go auction. This format is different from our weekly auction in that it is a silent auction with the bidding for various items ending in a staggered time frame. The Go-Go auction also has more than just the regular types of items being sold. The members in this auction can bring up to 25 lots and they can consist of just about anything the member chooses. We have had artwork, toys, coins, antiques, books, and more offered (and sold).

The Go-Go is held on the final Tuesday of any month where there are 5 Tuesdays in the month. So the dates will vary year to year.
